It’s not a secret that poker is a good source of income for players all over the world. Most European countries have at least 2-3 professional poker players who live on poker wins and are the acknowledged masters of poker. The number of poker players in the USA is, by far, the largest in the world, as the USA has been a world gambling center for many year. This is true about land-based casinos, but what about online ones? Till April, the 15th, called Black Friday for online casinos in the USA, US online poker players had a chance to play at pokerstars and other online poker rooms – the largest in the world. But they were charged of fraud transaction techniques violating US laws and closed, with criminal cases against their owners initiated.
Nowadays US online poker players have to quit online poker or look for alternatives. Some chose to play at brick-and-mortar casinos, but 99% admit that their results worsened and they face a decline in income, as they are not used to playing poker at land-based casinos, meet additional competition from local players and play in the state of stress, as most of them prefer to play online in the safety and piece
of their house.
Some decided to quit poker at all and are trying to switch to something else, but this is not that easy and the statistics shows that about 50,000 men and women in the USA are jobless because of poker sites ban.
Some players commute to Canadian casinos to play poker there and this became a source of confusing and humorous situations, as the players write “poker player” in the column “Profession” and are not allowed to cross the border, as poker player doesn’t officially exist as a profession. Both casino players and casino networks owners hope for positive changes in US legislation, which will allow to play at online casinos with no or fewer limits.
